SparkFun WeevilEye - Beginner Soldering Kit

Have you ever seen a Weevil? It's a pretty underappreciated beetle so we thought it deserved a kit. Okay so we just kind of like the name and think it makes a cute board. The SparkFun WeevilEye is an introductory through-hole soldering kit designed to help the novice electronics enthusiast learn about things like soldering and resistance. With a low parts count and a charming beetle-shaped board this kit is easy to assemble and an excellent starting point for anyone who wants to learn how to solder including young kids!Light-Reactive FeedbackOnce fully assembled the WeevilEye doesn't just sit on your desk; it features a built-in photosensor that directly controls the red LED "eyes." The hardware creates a simple analog circuit where the brightness of the LEDs shifts automatically depending on how much ambient light hits the sensor. The less light detected the brighter the friendly weevil’s eyes will glow!What to Expect During AssemblyFor a true beginner with zero prior experience we estimate the assembly will take between 10 and 20 minutes. This kit includes all the components you need to bring your beetle to life along with a helpful step-by-step instructional card to guide you through the assembly process.To complete this build you only need to provide the bare minimum tools: a soldering iron  solder and a pair of cutters.
