Introduction

The D-Robotics RDK Stereo Camera Module is a high-performance binocular depth camera engineered specifically for the RDK X5 development board. It leverages two 2MP color cameras and advanced binocular depth algorithms, accelerated by the RDK X5's BPU, to deliver efficient and accurate depth perception. Featuring an expansive 178° ultra-wide field of view and high-resolution 1920x1080 output via a dual MIPI interface, this RDK X5 stereo camera is purpose-built for demanding AI visual applications such as robotic navigation, gesture recognition, and 3D environment mapping.

Expansive 178° Ultra-Wide Field of View

The onboard dual cameras provide a massive 178° diagonal field of view, significantly expanding the perceptual range. This allows a system to capture comprehensive environmental data from a single vantage point, reducing blind spots and improving situational awareness for navigation and object tracking tasks in complex environments.


BPU-Accelerated Depth Computation

By offloading complex depth calculations to the RDK X5's dedicated BPU (Brain Processing Unit), the AI camera module achieves highly efficient real-time performance. This hardware acceleration ensures smooth data processing without overburdening the main processor, making it ideal for applications requiring rapid response times, such as autonomous obstacle avoidance and real-time 3D reconstruction.

High-Quality Imaging Day and Night

Equipped with the SC230AI sensor featuring SmartSens SmartClarity-2 technology, the AI vision module delivers crisp, clear 2MP (1920x1080) images with excellent color fidelity. Its superior low-light performance ensures reliable imaging in various lighting conditions. For operation in complete darkness, the module is compatible with external IR fill lights (sold separately) to enable robust night vision capabilities.

Cable Update (31/3/2026):

Currently, this camera comes with two types of cables — both the white and black cables function properly and will be shipped randomly. Please note that the black cable is directional: the end marked CAM should be connected to the camera, and the end marked RDK should be connected to the development board.
