The SparkFun BME680 Environmental Sensor combines a gas sensor with temperature humidity and barometric pressure sensing to give you a complete environmental monitoring solution in a single package. The onboard gas sensor can detect a wide range of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) making it an excellent choice for monitoring indoor air quality (IAQ). Combined with precise temperature humidity and pressure tracking the BME680 functions as a completely standalone environmental sensor within a compact 1-inch by 1-inch footprint.Solderless Environmental TrackingBecause we routed the BME680’s default I2C interface directly to our solderless Qwiic connectors integrating this robust sensor into your existing ecosystem is incredibly fast and error-free. If your project requires a traditional breadboard layout or you need the increased versatility of SPI communication all essential I2C and SPI pins are also conveniently broken out to standard 0.1-inch spaced headers.Indoor Air Quality and PrecisionTo ensure your air quality monitoring projects are as reliable as possible the BME680 Environmental Sensor Breakout provides several standout features:VOC Detection: Measures a broad range of volatile organic compounds to help you gauge overall indoor air quality.Precision Measurements: Delivers highly accurate temperature (±0.5°C to ±1.0°C) relative humidity (±3%) and barometric pressure (±60Pa) data.Low Power Draw: Consumes just 0.15 µA in sleep mode scaling up to 18mA depending on the active mode and sensor usage.Please be aware that calculating actual indoor air quality from raw BME680 data can be a complex task! For precise IAQ measurements we highly recommend utilizing Bosch's Sensortec Environmental Cluster (BSEC) Software.
